The Messenger. 12.29.08 Irene Elizabeth Rivers, 76, of Fulton died 4:35 a.m. Dec. 26, 2008, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Fulton. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hornbeak Funeral Home in Fulton, with burial following there in Greenlea Cemetery. Dr. Jessie L.O. Webb and Carl E. Minor will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the hour of services Tuesday. She was born Aug. 21, 1932, in Fulton, daughter of the late James and Corinne (White) Brown. She was the widow of Lemon Rivers and was a homemaker who had lived in this area all her life. Survivors include her son, Leroy Byrd of Fulton; two daughters and her son-in-law, Charlene Rivers and Thelma E. and C.W. Spears, all of Fulton; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and her brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Doris Guthrie of South Fulton.
