The Messenger. 12.29.08 A Troy man was injured last week when his car slid off ice-covered East Reelfoot Avenue in Union City during a morning when wintry precipitation fell. Charles Eric McReynolds, 45, of 467 Wiley Neely Road, Troy, sustained injury in a crash that occurred about 6 a.m. Tuesday in the 2400 block of East Reelfoot Avenue, according to a Union City Police Department report released today. McReynolds was westbound when his 2000 Chevrolet Silverado started sliding on the ice-covered roadway. He told police that he was traveling about 35-40 mph and, once the vehicle starting sliding, could not regain control, according to the report. McReynolds’ vehicle traveled from the westbound lanes over to the eastbound lanes and up into the front yard of 2429 East Reelfoot Ave. It struck two mailboxes and then continued toward the house, striking a large shrub and the front porch, and then overturned and came to rest on its passenger side. The driver was wearing a seat belt but sustained a possible broken nose, police reported. He was taken by Regional Emergency Medical Services ambulance to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City. No citations were issued as a result of the weather-related accident.
