The Messenger. 12.26.08 Completed arrangements are being announced for Aner “Sis” Massey, 87, of Union City. She died Dec. 23, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Community Church of Christ in Union City, with interment following in East View Cemetery. Eddie Cassetty will officiate. Friends may call at Rawls Funeral Home in Union City 6-7 p.m. Sunday. She was born Feb. 19, 1921, in Hickman County, Ky., daughter of the late Joe V. and Annie (Dicky) Harris. She was the widow of John D. Massey Jr., to whom she was married for 64 years. She was a former member of Vine Street Church of Christ in Union City and was a current member of Community Church of Christ. She had been employed by the late Thurman Sage and Janie Sage and at the former Salant & Salant in Union City and the Obion County Public Library when it was in a previous location. Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, John D. Massey Jr. of Union City, Willie J. and Betty Massey of Detroit and Jimmie L. and Doris Massey of Wayne, Mich.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Alice Simpson of Union City, Queen E. and Billy Amos of Paducah, Ky., and Dorothy and James Murphy of Gulfport, Miss.; 37 grandchildren, including the granddaughter she raised, Linda King of Paducah; 78 great-grandchildren; 42 great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Allean Robinson of Union City; and her brother, James Harris of Indianapolis. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Pauline Massey and George Ann Milligan, and two grandsons and her great-granddaughter.
