‘ANGEL’IC VISITORS — The Angels in Recovery Center was visited by “angels” in November, according to a spokesman for the transitional center for women coming out of alcohol or drug treatment programs. A mission team from Gadsden Baptist Church, led by Scott Cole and including men, women and youth, arrived at the Obion County facility to make several much-needed repairs. Male members of the team, who have experience in construction, jacked up the west end of the dwelling, where erosion had caused problems, and worked at leveling the home. A concrete base had previously been poured by Teddy Potter. The team built new foundation piers and sealed the underpining in that area. Their work has resulted in level floors and a new ease in heating the living space for the women who live at the center. Team members supplied their own tools and the wood and concrete blocks, as well as their expertise. Women who were members of the mission team worked in the kitchen and the youth set up and decorated a beautiful Christmas tree. Members of the team also shared a meal with the residents and provided food for a Thanksgiving meal. They also prayed with Angels in Recovery Center residents. “We are truly blessed, but they claim the same blessing,” an Angels in Recovery spokesman said. Angels in Recovery no longer has an association with Anchor House Inc. For information about the recovery program for women with addictions, call 885-3039. Published in The Messenger 12.24.08
