A teenager sustained a gunshot wound to the head in an incident late Sunday night in Troy. Details are still very sketchy today, but Troy Police Chief James Cleek said the 17-year-old boy was shot once in the head about 10 p.m. at a residence on Frazier Street in Troy. The shooting victim — whose name has not been disclosed by Troy police because he is a juvenile — was airlifted to Regional Medical Center in Memphis. The incident remains under investigation today. “We don’t know what was involved yet,” Cleek told The Messenger. Cleek said no one has yet been charged in the incident and police don’t really have a suspect at this point in their investigation. The Obion County Sheriff’s Department was also on the scene with the Troy Police Department. Anyone who has any information about the shooting is asked to contact the Troy Police Department at 536-4342 or Crime Stoppers at 885-TIPS (885-8477). Tips may also be e-mailed to Crime Stoppers at ucpd@ci.unioncity.tn.us. Callers to Crime Stoppers are guaranteed anonymity and could earn cash rewards for tips that solve cases.
