The Hunter Hynds Unit of United Methodist Women held its December meeting at Brandy’s in Martin, with 14 members and a guest present.

A special Christmas program entitled “O Come, Let Us Adore Him” by Faye Wilson was presented by leaders Becky Barnes and  Emily Haynes.

A recollection of the Christmas story was told through the placement of individual pieces comprising the nativity, while selected readings of adoration and praise were given in honor of Jesus’ birth.

Moments of silent meditation for remembering present day needs that must accompany us to the stable were included.

Mrs. Barnes presented scripture selections from Isaiah 9:1-6, Matthew 2:1-2 and Luke 2:15-20. Linda Winstead sang appropriate verses from “Angels We Have Heard on High,” “O Come, All Ye Faithful,” and “O Little Town of Bethlehem.”

She also led the group in singing the chorus of “Go Tell It on the Mountain.”

Mrs. Barnes closed the program with prayer.

After a time of gift-giving, everyone enjoyed a delicious meal and great fellowship.

The next meeting will be Jan. 13 at Stanley’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
