FUMC Christmas events set

Union City First United Methodist Church welcomes the community to worship and celebrate Christmas through music Sunday at 10:50 a.m. at the church, located at 420 East Main St. The sanctuary choir will present a variety of musical selections focusing on God’s greatest gift — Jesus. Following the music-worship service, there will be a fund raiser fish fry in the church’s family life center. The meal is being staged to help raise funds to support Meri-Morgan Bowling and her family. Meri-Morgan, who is 12 years old, will be traveling to Michigan in early January for special treatment to help her gain strength and balance. She has recently begun to show dramatic signs of improvement and new strength after having been diagnosed with a chromosome disorder when she was 4 years old. The public is invited to attend the worship service and the fund raiser luncheon.

The congregation and the pastor, Dr. David Russell, also invite the community to the annual Christmas Eve communion service at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary.

Selling barbecued meals

Powerhouse Evangelistic Outreach Center, located at 1304 East Main St., next to Save-a-Lot grocery, will be selling barbecued ribs and whole chickens, plus rib and chicken plates that will include potato salad and baked beans and bread, Friday, beginning at 11 a.m.

Slabs will sell for $18 and whole chickens will go for $10.

For more information, call 885-8738.

The Rev. Demetries Ceaser is pastor.

Troy First Baptist Church invites the community to the living nativity scene Saturday and Monday from 6-9 p.m. and  Sunday from 7:15-9 p.m. at the church at 519 East Harper St. Visitors may drive through or park and walk.

There will be free hot chocolate and cookies, as well.

All are invited to attend, according to the pastor, the Rev. Vann Kissell.
