Jerry Wayne Ayers Sr., 64, of Union City died Dec. 16, 2008, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Thursday at First United Pentecostal Church in Union City, with the Rev. Paul Cagle officiating. Burial will follow in Hickman (Ky.) City Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
White-Ranson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family requests that memorials be made to Union City First United Pentecostal Church.
He was born Feb. 4, 1943, in Hickman, son of the late Norman and Myrtle (Yates) Ayers. He was a retired funeral director for Service Corp. International in Houston, Texas, where he was employed for 35 years, and was a member of Union City First United Pentecostal Church.
He was also a veteran of the Army National Guard.
Survivors include two daughters, Tammi Holland of Union City and Melissa Bartalotta of Michigan; two sons, Jerry W. Ayers Jr. of Martin and Michael Ayers of Hohenwald; three brothers, Dale Ayers of Centralia, Ill., and Swayne Ayers and H.L. Williamson, both of Hickman; nine grandchildren; and his great-granddaughter.
He was also preceded in death by two grandsons, Michael Scott Ayers Jr. and Andrew Norman Ayers; his sister, Clara Helton; and his brother, Morrison Williamson.
