Completed arrangements are being announced for William Harold Searcy, 70, of Union City. He died at the emergency room of Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City Dec. 15, 2008. He was the owner of the former Searcy’s Restaurant in Union City.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with the Revs. Jerry Leggett and Phillip Pinion officiating. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home 5-8 p.m. today.
Pallbearers will be David Searcy, Brian Searcy, Larry Thomason, Bobby Williams, Kevin Whipple, Brian Patterson, Russell Abbott and Brady Simpson.
He was born Aug. 28, 1938, in Lake County, son of the late Grover “Joe” and Opal (Hatley) Searcy. He married the former Wanda Larry April 19, 1955. She survives. He was the retired owner and operator of the former Searcy’s Restaurant in downtown Union City and the former Searcy’s Grocery on Old Lake Road. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Union City.
Survivors also include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Candy and Kevin Whipple and Shawna Williams, all of Union City, and Stacy and Bryon Patterson of Thomaston, Ga.; his son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Susie Searcy of Union City; nine grandchildren and the spouse of one, Sarah and Matt Kennedy of Jackson, Clay Searcy of Martin, Heather Nicks, Jeni Williams, Walt Williams and Carly Whipple, all of Union City, and Walker Patterson, Miller Patterson and Alley Patterson, all of Thomaston; his brother, Allen Searcy of Union City; and several nieces and nephews.
