James S. McKinney, 84, of South Fulton, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, at Martin Health Care. Services were held 1 p.m. Sunday at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel in Fulton, Ky., with Dr. Jack Acree officiating. Burial was in Greenlea Cemetery, Fulton. McKinney was born May 22, 1924, in Obion County, son of the late Robert Lee and Lela Mae Milner McKinney. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II, worked as an engineer for the Union Carbide Plant in Paducah, Ky., for 29 years, was a professor at the University of Tennessee at Martin where he taught engineering and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fulton, Ky. Survivors include one son, Ronnie (Scarlett) McKinney of South Fulton; one daughter, Christina (Frank) Kelly of Lake Zurich, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Jessica McKinney, Matthew McKinney and Haley McKinney, all of South Fulton, Laura Kelly and Brian Kelly, both of Lake Zurich, Ill., Patrick Kelly of Denver, Co., Jennifer Howard of Woodstock, Ga., and Heather Ciaglia of Barrington, Ill.; and two great-grandchildren, Avery Ciaglia of Barrington, Ill., and Tyler Howard of Woodstock, Ga.
