Thefts caught on camera, employee arrested
A former E.W. James employee was arrested last week after he was allegedly caught on camera stealing money from the Western Union teller located inside the Martin branch. Officers with the Martin Police Department were notified on Friday by the security coordinator of E.W. James and Sons supermarket that an employee had reportedly stolen money from the Western Union teller. According to an incident report, William Irvan admitted to officers he had taken $450 from the teller on Nov. 28. Irvan, 18, of Moody Street in Martin, also admitted to taking $1,300 in cash on Dec. 5. The security coordinator confronted Irvan and was able to recover $1,300 from Irvan’s shoe, according to the report. Both incidents were caught on the grocery store’s security camera. Irvan was arrested on Friday and charged with two counts of theft of property.
