James Thomas Taylor, 88, of Union City, former city alderman and mayor of Bradford, died Dec. 8, 2008, at Golden Living Center in Union City.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Hunt Funeral Home in Bradford, with burial following there in Pleasant View Cemetery. Lynn Tharpe will officiate.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 this evening.
He was born March 3, 1920, in Bradford, son of the late Cottrell and Ora (Mullins) Taylor. He was the widower of Dorothy Taylor and was retired as a self-employed electrical contractor at Taylor Electric. Co. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II who served in Ireland, France, England and Germany and had been a member of Bradford Church of Christ, serving as an elder for more than 50 years. He was a current member of Bishop Street Church of Christ in Union City.
Survivors include two sons, Gene Taylor of Dyer and Cloney Taylor of Union City, and four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
