Virgin L. Workman, 90, of Martin, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, at Martin Health Care and Rehab. Services were at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bowlin Funeral Home in Dresden, with Bro. Doug Morris officiating. Burial was at Blooming Grove Cemetery in Palmersville. Juston Austin, Matt Croom, Brad Spencer, Johnny Morris, Eric Spencer, Brad Parks, Jamie Holloway and Brian Morris served as pallbearers. Gene Workman was honorary pallbearer. Workman was born in Palmersville, son of the late Chester and Eula Palestine Perry Workman. He was a retired custodial supervisor at UT Martin and a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of Blooming Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Palmersville. He was the widower of Pauline Webb Workman and Hazel Wilson Spencer Workman. Survivors include two daughters, Eula Parks and Paula Turbeville, both of Martin; a stepdaughter, Joyce Morris of Dresden; a stepson, David Spencer of Martin; three sisters, Hallie Finley of Dresden, Sue Foley of Palmersville and Mabel Gatewood of Atlanta, Ga.; a half-brother, Edsel Workman of Chicago, Ill.; an adopted brother, Gary Eaves of Chicago, Ill.; four grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and 14 step-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Workman; and three brothers, Mason Workman, Charles Workman and Bill Workman. Web site: wcp 12-9-08
