Central girls’ win

Chassidy Fussell poured in 34 points to key Obion Central’s 77-58 victory over Liberty in a stand-alone girls’ basketball game Monday evening.
Fussell was aided by three Lady Rebel teammates, who also reached double digits.
Macy Wright pitched in a dozen, while Kacee Eaves had 11 and Mackenzie Tucker added 10.
Central was ahead 20-16 after a quarter, 39-26 at halftime and 62-42 with three periods complete.
With the victory, OC improves to 7-1 on the season.
The Lady Rebels and their male counterparts return to action Friday when they host Gibson County.

UT Martin’s Hudson
joins 1,000 point club

With a lay-up at the 13:45 mark in the second half of Saturday’s UT Martin-Eastern Kentucky men’s basketball game, senior guard Lester Hudson earned his 1,000th career point in a UTM uniform
Hudson became the 13th player in the program’s history to accumulate 1,000 points.
The Memphis native would go onto score 12 more points in the game to give him 1,012 points through 40 career games, which is good for a 25.3 points per game average for Hudson during his career as a Skyhawk.
Hudson’s career scoring average ranks him fifth all-time in the 60-year history of the Ohio Valley Conference.

Free throw woes
cut down OC frosh

A lowly 7-of-17 evening from the foul line contributed to the Obion Central freshman boys’ 51-47 defeat against Milan on Thursday.
In the game that was reported to The Messenger late, LaPrince Gauldin topped the OC scoring summary with 15 points, while Parker McMinn and Straton Moore each contributed eight.
The Rebel frosh squad will return to the hardwood on Thursday at Dyersburg.

Devils no match
for javyee Rebels

South Fulton was no match for the Obion Central boys in a jayvee game on Saturday afternoon.
The Rebels drubbed the Red Devils 43-13.
Blake Walton was the top performer for OC during the victory as he totaled 10 points, while Michael Hussey added nine.
Crosser Calloway put in five points and he pulled down three rebounds.
The Central jayvee boys return to action on Thursday at Dyersburg.
