Joseph Travis ‘Joe’ Davis

Joseph Travis “Joe” Davis, 60, of Palmersville, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis. Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church in the Austin Springs community, with Bro. Larry Clark, Bro. Rick Walker and Mark French officiating. Burial was at Little Zion Cemetery in Palmersville. Bowlin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Tim Barnes, Les Ary, Tim Hedge, Bob Bragg, Ralph Cooper, Keith Doster, Tommy Blassingame and Billy Owens served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Howard Harris, Harold Reynolds and Russell Hall. Davis was born July 5, 1948, in Palmersville, son of the late Eugene Brooks and Ruth Hodges Davis. He was a general foreman for Tecumseh Corp. in Paris. He was a member of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as chairman of the deacons. Survivors include his wife Faye McClain Davis of Palmersville; two sons, Stephen “Craig” (Donna Jones) Davis of Jackson and Christopher Michael “Mike” (Michelle) Davis of Palmersville; and three grandchildren, Alex Davis, Zack Davis and Falynn Davis.
