Rape cases set for court
The Weakley County Grand Jury will hear the case against a Greenfield man charged with child rape while another man accused of having sexual relations with the same child will reappear in Weakley County General Sessions Court this week. Junior Thomas Jenkins, 43, of Kimery Levee Road in Greenfield had his case reset for Wednesday in general sessions court. Jenkins is charged with sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl. He was arrested in September after evidence was discovered at a clay pit and on his cell phone that linked him to the alleged child rape, according to a Weakley County Sheriff’s Department press release. Jenkins faces a Class A felony of rape of a child. He is being held in the Weakley County Detention Center on a $250,000 bond. Weakley County General Sessions Judge Tommy Moore will hear his case this Wednesday in the jail courtroom in Dresden. In a related case, Wayne Edward Hicks, 61, also of Greenfield faces an accusation of sexual assault on the same 10-year-old victim. He is accused of having oral sex with the victim as well as her 14-year-old friend according to the affidavit of complaint. Hicks was arrested in September as a result of the investigation into the alleged sexual assault of the 10-year-old child by Jenkins. He waived his right to a preliminary hearing last week in court. The case was bound over to the January term of the Weakley County Grand Jury. Hicks is charged with rape of a child, incest and aggravated sexual assault. His bond is set at $150,000. WCP 12.02.08
