Mary Nell Amptman, 79, of South Fulton, died Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at Golden Living Center in Union City. Services were at 11 a.m. today at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel in Fulton, Ky., with the Rev. Ron Cox officiating. Burial was at Walnut Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Amptman was born July 27, 1929, in Fulton, Ky., daughter of the late Raymond A. and Grace Crockett Roach. She lived in St. Louis, Mo., for 20 years and moved back to Tennessee in 1978. She worked in food service management at the University of Tennessee at Martin. She was the widow of Elmer Lee Amptman and was a member of South Fulton Baptist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Linda (Mike) Hankerd of Thorton, Colo., Helen Louise (Ken) Colter of Maplewood, Mo., and Lisa (David) Easterwood of Troy; two stepdaughters, Delores (Mickey) Gillette of Warrenton, Mo., Sharon (Gene) Steffe of Fenton, Mo.; three sisters, Willowdean Zickefoose, Bessie Lou Tune and Bonnie Ruth Eastep, all of South Fulton; three grandchildren, Jason Hankerd, James Easterwood and Colton Easterwood; three step-grandchildren, Richard Prater, Cindy Schwagmann and Steven Prater; and several great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Walter A. “Ted” Roach; a daughter, Ellen Amptman; and two step-grandchildren.
