James Everett Croom, 81, of Sharon, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, at Methodist Hospital in Germantown. Services were at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church in Sharon. Burial was at Woodlawn Cemetery. Gardner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. David Croom, Mike Croom, Joey Croom, Matt Croom, Brent Croom and Zach Whitehead served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were H.T. White, Asa McCaslin, Bill Hall, Gene Tackett, Jimmy Croom, Raymond Bugg and Paul Klutts. Croom was born Dec. 26, 1926, in Gibson County. He worked as a truck driver for Argo-Collier, was a salesman for Watkins Motor Lines Co. and was co-owner of Jones & English Trucking Co. of Sharon. At retirement he was in the dairy business with his oldest son, Ronnie. Survivors include his wife, Marie Landrum Croom; three sons, Ronnie (Brenda) Croom of Dyer, Joe (Deica) Croom of Martin and Jimmy (Diane) Croom of Greenfield; two sisters, Joann King of Trenton and Nancy Williams of Middleton; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. wcp 12-2-08
