Max Woodrow Ledbetter, 84, of Troy died Nov. 29, 2008, at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt. Services were set for today at 10 a.m. at Cryer Funeral Home in Obion. The Rev. Terry English was to officiate and burial was to follow in Rosehill Cemetery in Obion. Pallbearers were to be Billy Ledbetter, David Ledbetter, Greg Ferguson, Tom Mathews, Larry Anderson and David Glover. The family requests memorials be made to the Scott Revell Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 206, Obion, TN 38240. He was born July 23, 1924, in Caruthersville, Mo., son of the late Willie and Ellen (Turner) Ledbetter. He attended the former Obion High School and was a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II and the Korean conflict, and had worked as a department manager for Sears in Norfolk, Va. He was a member of Obion First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Worley Ledbetter; two stepsons, Chris Jones of Norfolk and Martin Jones of Denver; and a stepgrandchild, David Huey of Krumb, Texas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Ledbetter; and a sister, Willie Mae Mingle. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.cryerfuneralhome.com.
