Police are investigating a robbery that occurred last week at Little General No. 8 at 302 West Main St. in Union City. At 8:38 p.m. Wednesday, 911 called the Union City Police Department to report that someone was robbing the convenience store. Officers arrived on the scene just one minute later to find that the suspect had already left, according to a police report. A clerk told police that a white man in his 20s had come into the store a few minutes earlier. She said he had a screwdriver in his right hand and that he set a can of shortening on the counter and told her to give him all of the money from the register. She reportedly refused and he again asked for the money. After she mentioned that someone else was in the store, the man left, allegedly saying that he’d be back, according to the report. The suspect was reported to be about 5-feet-4-inches tall and slightly heavy-set, with his head either bald or shaved on the back and sides and a scar on one of his cheeks. He was reported to have been wearing a blue hoodie with white striping, a red shirt and a black hat with white writing. Published in The Messenger 12.1.08
