Maudie Christine Moore, 92, of Union City died Nov. 29, 2008, at Union City Manor. Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home’s chapel in Newbern, with the Rev. Danny Neal officiating. Burial will follow in Church Grove Cemetery in Newbern. Pallbearers will be Anthony Caldwell, Bobby Moore, Lloyd Moore, Newell Wallace Jr., Kenneth Wright, Roger Lynn Phifer and Jeremiah Pickard. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-6 p.m. today. She was born Sept. 1, 1916, in McNairy County, daughter of the late Rufus Henry and Violet R. Cagle. She was the widow of Joe Robert Moore. She was a homemaker. Survivors include four daughters, Carolyn Isom and Mary Ruth Phifer, both of Union City, Patsy Tubbs of Newbern and Edna Williams of Hornbeak; a stepdaughter, Nola Russow of Joplin, Mo.; a son, Bobby Moore of Newbern; a stepson, Oliver Moore of Jackson; and 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Harvey Moore; and two sisters, five brothers, a grandchild and four great-grandchildren. Published in The Messenger 12.1.08
