Union City High School will host the annual Financial Aid Night Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. in the school commons area.

Senior students and their parents are encouraged to attend to learn how to complete the application that qualifies the students for grants and loans, as well as local scholarships.

Sandy Neel, financial aid director at the University of Tennessee at Martin, will be present to explain the types of financial aid and how to fill in the information requested on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The meeting will last about an hour, a spokesman said.

Careful and accurate information is essential for the FAFSA, since it is used at universities, colleges, community colleges and trade and vocational schools to help determine federal and state grant/loans.

To qualify for these grants and loans, a student must complete the packet or financial information based on the 2008 tax year of the student and the parent.

For more information, contact UCHS guidance counselor Winnie Logan at 885-2372, extension 15.
