Obion County Rescue Squad attends convention
The Obion County Rescue Squad was well represented recently at the 53rd annual convention of the Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads (TARS) in Kingsport.

The local squad had 13 members in attendance.

Jim Williamson of Union City, treasurer of the Obion County Rescue Squad, was re-elected president of TARS, while his wife, Amy, was re-elected president of the Women’s Auxiliary to the Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads (WATARS).

Members of the Obion County Rescue Squad, Humboldt Area Rescue Squad and Milan Fire Department placed first in the emergency care contest and third in the rescue challenge contest. The team is known as the West Tennessee Fellows.

Obion County Crewettes member Judy Faulkner of Union City received the Crewette of the Year award.

The Crewettes  — the rescue squad’s ladies auxiliary — also placed second in both the WATARS scrapbook and the Service to Squad and Community contests.

Four members of the Crewettes were re-elected as state officers in WATARS. In addition to Mrs. Williamson, they included Mrs. Faulkner as vice president, Amanda Smith of Union City as Region 4 vice president and Vickie Sowell of Woodland Mills as parliamentarian.
