South Fulton girls untested against FC
South Fulton’s girls remained the only unbeaten middle school basketball team in Obion County after a 40-3 whipping of Fulton City.
The Devilettes improved to 6-0 on the campaign as they allowed just a lone basket and free throw over the course of the shellacking.
The SF girls led 10-2 after one quarter, 20-2 at intermission and 34-3 with a period to go.
In the nightcap at South Fulton, the boys were victorious 58-42 over their Twin Cities rival.
In other Monday action, Ridgemont swept Black Oak with the boys 56-16 victors and the girls on the right side of a 37-24 final.
Union City also brought out the brooms as the girls downed Dyersburg 38-32 and the boys were 55-39 winners.
SF ‘Twin’ winners
Lakin Hailey poured in 17 points and she snatched seven steals during Monday evening’s lopsided victory.
Meanwhile, Talea Cross and Ke-lon Martin offered eight points each for the Devilettes.
Allison Stem, Paxton Pair and Lexi Johnson each had two points for SF.
Claire McConnell rounded out South Fulton’s scoring summary with a point and three rebounds.
In the nightcap, South Fulton (4-2) was ahead 19-5 with one quarter complete, 29-11 at intermission and 42-24 with three complete.
Three Red Devils reached double digits as Ryan Prince poured in 22 points, Khiry Lewis contributed 16 and J.P. Fowler added 14.
Otherwise, Lewis swiped seven steals and Fowler pulled down six rebounds. Jacquay Garmon pulled down a team-high seven caroms for SF.
The Red Devils and their female counterparts return to action on Thursday when they host Hillcrest.
R’mont sweeps BO
Ali McEwen led the Lady Mustangs to a 4-1 mark on the season as she tossed in 12 points and pulled down five rebounds on Monday evening.
Also among the standout performers for Ridgemont was the duo of Billie Preuett (seven points and four assists) and Nancy Davis (six points).
For Black Oak (0-4), Darcey Jones nailed a pair of threes and she finished with a dozen points, with Diana Flippen and Abby Blackburn bringing down seven and six rebounds, respectively.
In the boys’ game, Wade Victory and Alec Reynolds each totaled 15 points for the Mustangs (2-3), with Brett Scillions also reaching double digits with 10 markers.
Hunter Short put together the most impressive stat sheet for the Eagles (0-4) with five points and eight rebounds — six of which were offensive. Jordan Davis pulled down six caroms for BO.
Ridgemont plays next on Monday at Rutherford, while Black Oak is at Lake Road on Thursday.
UC brings out brooms
Keylon Hyde was a rebound short of a double-double with 10 points and nine caroms during the Twisters’ 16-point win at Dyersburg.
Meanwhile, Travis Rutland totaled nine points and six steals, while Joseph Shanks contributed seven markers and five take-aways for Union City (6-1, 4-1 in West Tennessee Athletic Conference play).
In the girls’ triumph, Amber Fair poured in a team-high 15 points and she also had four steals, while Jackie Hudson accumulated nine points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Twisters (4-3, 4-1 in WTAC).
Shannon Wiggins tacked on eight points for UC.
The Union City teams return to action on Monday when they travel to Northview.
