Percussion ensemble, steel bands to perform

The University of Tennessee at Martin percussion ensemble, the steel band and also the Jamaica Me Happy steel band, will perform at 3 p.m., Nov. 23, at Harriet Fulton Theatre in the Fine Arts Building. The concert includes a piece titled “Sprint” which moves through a musical depiction of a day in the life of a long-distance runner. Other pieces are taken from a recent concert tour in Mexico and include a snare drum ensemble feature. In addition, the Jamaica Me Happy Steel Band will have a new CD available. Performers include Scottie Somerville, of Kenton; Davin Smith, of Erin; Mark Fairless, of Trenton; Daniel Vargason, of Selmer; Cory Bozard, of Bells; Jacob Abbott, of Rutherford; Jeff Moore, of Dyersburg; Sean Johnson, of Charleston, W. Va.; Andrew Lynn, of Gibson; Stephen Hughes, of Brighton; Colby Snider, of Memphis; Hamilton Moore, of Cordova; Keegan Paluso, of Munford; Merlyn Bruce, of Nashville; Joshua Porche, of Erin; and Daniel Houston, of Jackson.
