Obion County Public Library will sponsor a Medicare Part D open enrollment workshop at 12 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, for individuals who would like to evaluate their prescription drug plans provided by Medicare. The workshop will provide information to help people choose the best plan for them. Open enrollment for Medicare Part D extends from Nov. 15-Dec. 31. Dianne Hart, coordinator with Northwest Tennessee State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP), will answer questions about Medicare Part D and will provide step-by-step instructions to make changes in Medicare Part D plans. Trained library staff will provide one-on-one assistance for people who would like to compare drug plans online. Individuals who wish to get an evaluation of the best prescription drug plan should bring their Medicare card, names and dosage information for all prescription medications that they are currently taking and their current prescription drug plan card. The federally funded State Health Insurance Assistance Program has counselors in every state, and they are available to provide free one-on-one help with Medicare questions or problems. For more information, call Pat Thompson at (731) 885-7000.
