The Messenger. 11.14.08 Robert O. “Bob” Caldwell, 85, of Newbern died Nov. 12, 2008, at his home. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home in Newbern, with burial following in Rose Hill Cemetery in Obion. The Rev. Richard Carruth will officiate. Pallbearers will be Larry Dunaway, Patrick Herndon, Michael Herndon, Sidney Chalker, David Caldwell and Jimmy Winchester. Honorary pallbearers will be Leon Williams, Gerald Tidwell, Bobby Vaughn and Donnie Davidson. Friends may call at the funeral home 6-8 this evening. The family requests memorials be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America, 7 MillBrook Road, Wilton, NH 03086-0925. He was born March 26, 1923, in Henry County, son of the late C.O. and Lettie Caldwell. He was the widower of Peggy S. Caldwell and was a U.S. Army World War II veteran who was decorated for service to his country. He was a member of Trimble American Legion and was a retired employee of Newbern Implement Co. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Ronnie Roberts of Newbern; his grandson and his wife, Scott and Melissa Roberts of Jackson; and his great-grandson, Nolan Thomas Roberts of Jackson. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Roberta Wamble and Vera Wright.
