County meeting set

The Messenger. 11.12.08 The Obion County Legislative Body will meet 9 a.m. Monday in the circuit courtroom at the Obion County Courthouse in Union City. Items on the agenda include: • approval of minutes of the October 2008 term; • a discussion concerning the Obion County Joint Economic Development Corp. with Jim Cooper, the director; • resolutions to amend the General Fund in the amount of $472 from the City of Woodland Mills and to authorize the submittal of an application for a “Tobacco Use Prevention and Cessation Grant” for $21,000; • a report about county-wide fire protection service; • resolutions authorizing an agreement for the county clerk to collect motor vehicle regulatory fees imposed by the City of Kenton and to approve a “settlement agreement” with the Howell Group LLC and to amend the General Fund in the amount of $11,864 by the county mayor; • a request to approve a Telecommunication Audit Participation Agreement; • a report from the Insurance Committee; • a report about the new state-wide voting method; • a financial report from the Indigent Care Trust Fund; • resolutions amending the General Fund for $1,000 and $3,000; the Drug Control Fund for $10,000; and the Debt Service Fund for $1,180,000; • acceptance of resignations from Cloney Taylor and Robert M. Barnes (both of District 2) from the Legislative Body, effective Dec. 1, and the filling of the two vacancies to be effective Dec. 1, 2008, plus the filling of a vacancy on the Budget Committee (replacing Barnes) to be effective Dec. 1, 2008; • appointments to the Everett-Stewart Regional Airport Board (now serving, Dr. Chris Gooch and David James); • appointment to the Civil Service Board (now serving, Ann McGuire); • appointment to the Fair Association Board (now serving, county mayor); • approval of Notary Public applications; Appointments to the following board and committees for the January term include: • Agriculture Committee (now serving, David Clark, Polk Glover and Mary Lynn Dotson); • Budget Committee (now serving, Danny Jowers, Dwayne Hensley, Barnes, Glover, Ralph Puckett, Jerry Grady and Steve Rice); • Courthouse Committee (now serving, Steve Goodrich, Jimmy Seals, Richard Arnold, William Kane, Glover, Hensley and Kenneth Cheatham); • Ethics Committee (now serving, Nohsey, Donnie Braswell, Terry Roberts, Circuit Clerk Harry Johnson and Roger Williams); • County Historian (now serving, Nohsey); • Museum Board (now serving, Jamie Adams, Bob Nichols, Bonnie Cross Moon and Vernon May); • Solid Waste Regional Planning Board (now serving, Glover and Alan Benedict) The session will be open to the public.
