Rev. Markey Kite, 86, of Martin, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, at Volunteer Community Hospital. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Campground Cemetery, with Bro. Lowell Wiley officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today at Murphy Funeral Home. Kite was born Oct. 18, 1923, in Plant City, Fla., son of the late David and Zillie Rosson Kite. He was a former missionary to Mexico, sponsored by the 30th Avenue Baptist Church in St. Petersburg, Fla. He was a World War II U.S. Army Merchant Marine veteran, a member of 30th Avenue Baptist Church and attended Ruthville Baptist Church. He was the widower of Addie Sheffield Kite. Survivors include a son, Ed Kite of Martin; two daughters, Betty Orme of Highland City, Fla., and Vivian King of Blairsville, Ga.; a brother, Woodrow Kite of Zephyrhills, Fla.; and six grandchildren.
