The Messenger. 11.10.08 Robert Hugh Barnes, 78, of Union City died Nov. 8, 2008, at Golden Living Center in Union City. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with burial following in Obion County Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Eddie Mallonee will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home 5-8 this evening. Pallbearers will be Ben Killebrew, Brennan Barnes, Garrison Barnes, the Rev. Steve Carr, Danny Carr and Doug Marshall. He was born March 16, 1930, in Obion County, son of the late Robert Thomas and Sallie (Shepherd) Barnes. He married the former Elsie Rae Scott Sept. 19, 1957. She died Aug. 8, 1997. He was a retired employee of Kohler Industries and was a U.S. Army veteran who fought in the Korean War. He was a member of Union City Second Baptist Church. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Charles Taylor of Puryear; his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Michele Barnes of Union City; his granddaughter, Avery Barnes of Union City; three grandsons and the wife of one, Ben and Amanda Killebrew of Collierville and Brennan Barnes and Garrison Barnes, both of Union City; his step-granddaughter, Amanda Tay-lor of Puryear; his sister and brother-in-law, Maggie and Jake Carr of Union City; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Thomas Killebrew; his sister, June Driver; and his brother, Alvin Barnes.
