The Messenger. 11.10.08 A local man was charged with two drug-related offenses following a traffic stop Sunday afternoon in the 100 block of South Miles Avenue in Union City. Michael James Irvan, 20, of 2342 Norwood Drive, Union City, was arrested at 4:09 p.m. and charged with simple possession of marijuana and simple possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (hydrocodone), according to a Union City Police Department report. Police had initially stopped a vehicle for an alleged window tint violation just after 4 p.m. A police officer who made contact with the driver, identified as Irvan, reported he “appeared to be very nervous.” During a patdown, the officer felt what appeared to be some type of contraband in one of Irvan’s pockets and discovered a clear baggy that contained a substance believed to be marijuana, according to the report. In addition, Irvan allegedly had a pill bottle that indicated methadone on the bottle but contained 9 1/2 pills identified as hydrocodone. Irvan was arrested on the two drug charges and also issued a citation for a window tint violation, police reported.
