The Messenger. 11.06.08 A local man and woman allegedly were injured Wednesday afternoon in a fight involving a large crowd at College and Nash streets in Union City. Police were dispatched about 4:30 p.m. to the intersection of College and Nash in reference to a large fight in progress, according to a Union City Police Department report. Officers arrived to find no fight under way. They were told by several different onlookers that “a bunch of kids” had allegedly “jumped” a man and woman and that the victims were since on their way to the hospital, according to the report. Police spoke with the victims — a 41-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man, both of Union City — at the emergency room of Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City. Due to both of them being very upset and the woman being treated for injuries, police did not obtain a statement from either of them. Their injuries were listed as minor on the police report. The incident remains under investigation.
