Veterans’ parade to be held Nov. 8 in Martin

Rolling Thunder Chapter 6 is hosting a Veterans’ Parade at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, in downtown Martin. The event is free to the public and community members are encouraged to attend the parade in support of all veterans. Rolling Thunder is a recently formed non-profit chapter of people in the community who rally to show support for POW-MIAs and veterans’ rights. The group recently formed in Northwest Tennessee. The parade will be the first of its kind in more than 30 years. Parade line-up begins at 9 a.m. at the Weldon Park behind the post office in downtown Martin. There will an invocation at the park at 9:40 that morning, followed by the singing of the national anthem at 9:45 a.m. The parade will features area veterans, University of Tennessee at Martin’s Army ROTC Color Guard, the Westview Marching Band and local Boy Scout and Cub Scout troops. The parade route will begin at the park to Lindell Street and turning onto Church Street.
