Mary Thomas Moore Wooten, 78, of Dresden, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2008, at the Weakley County Rehab and Nursing Center in Dresden. Services were held 2 p.m. Sunday at Southside Church of Christ in Dresden, with E. Claude Gardner, Shannon Seaton and Jerry Sherrill officiating. Burial was in Little Zion Cemetery, Palmersville. Jimmy Atkins, David Atkins, Mark McAlpin, David Thompson, Joe Moon and Jack Barker served as pallbearers. Mrs. Wooten was born in Palmersville, daughter of the late James Herbert and Mabel Kennedy Moore. She was a graduate of Palmersville High School, a former kindergarten teacher and Chevrolet dealership owner, a member of Madison Church of Christ for more than 20 years and a member of Southside Church of Christ, Dresden. Survivors include her husband of almost 60 years, John S. Wooten of Dresden; one daughter, Linda Highers of Madison; one sister, Ruth Atkins of Dresden; one niece, Judy McAlpin of Dresden; and two nephews, James Thomas Atkins of Puryear and David William Atkins of Russellville.
