The Messenger. 11.04.08 Completed arrangements are being announced for Loice Everett Batts, 91, of Carrollton, Ga., formerly of Union City, who died Nov. 2, 2008, at Carrollton Manor Nursing Home.. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jon Cawley officiating. Burial will follow in Clark Cemetery near Fulton. Friends may call at the funeral home 5-8 p.m. Wednesday. He was born Dec. 19, 1916, in Wingo, Ky., son of the late James Henry and Sudie (Scott) Batts. He married the former Margaret Lucille Hendricks Feb. 23, 1942. She died May 14, 2006. He was a graduate of Lambuth University in Jackson. A retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force, he was the former owner and operator of Tri-County Credit Bureau in Union City. He was a member of Union City First United Methodist Church and of Al Chymia Shrine. He was also a former member of Union City Kiwanis Club. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Lana Batts of Arlington, Va., and Jeff and Betsy Batts of Carrollton; and two step-granddaughters, Ashley Thompson and Lindsey Thompson, both of Carrollton.
