Pictsweet welcomes Castellaw

John “Glad” Castellaw has joined the Pictsweet Company as vice president of operations.
He is married to the former Wanda Nelson of Obion County, who works for the SAIC Corp. as a policy analyst.
At Pictsweet, Castellaw will be responsible for manufacturing and agricultural activities at the company’s six facilities.
Castellaw, a native of Crockett County who received a bachelor of science degree in agriculture from the University of Tennessee at Martin, retired earlier this year as a lieutenant general in the U.S. Marine Corps and most recently served as deputy commandant for programs and resources at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.
He served in the Marine tank and amphibian tractor units before becoming a helicopter pilot. During his 36-year career, he commanded several worldwide operations of Marine and joint organizations and served on high-level staffs in Europe, Japan and the Middle East.
Castellaw and his wife are the parents of a son, Jake, who lives in Washington D.C., where he is employed by the U.S. Department of Justice.
The Pictsweet Company, a 63-year-old privately held national processor and marketer of food products, is headquartered in Bells. The company offers a complete line of vegetable and meal solutions sold in retail supermarkets, food service and military commissaries.
The company operates production facilities in Bells, Santa Maria, Calif., Monte Alto, Texas, and Bridgeville, Del., as well as distribution centers in Brownsville and Ogden, Utah.
