Jake Yates, 67, of South Fulton died Nov. 1, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
Services were set for 3 p.m. today at Hornbeak Funeral Home in Fulton, with the Rev. Gayle Barnes officiating. Burial was to follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
He was born Sept. 15, 1941, in Graves County, Ky., son of the late Everett and Novella (Warren) Yates. He was a former employee of Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co., where he worked as a butcher for 18 years. He also retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in January 2000. He had lived in this area all his life and was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Pilot Oak, Ky.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Sisca Dean and Sherrie Elania Yates of South Fulton; his daughter and son-in-law, Shannon Eugina and Dale Townsend of Union City; his brother, William D. Yates Sr. of Wingo, Ky., and his sister, Dorothy Mathis of Paducah, Ky.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, John Virgil Yates.
