The Hunter Hynds Unit of United Methodist Women met in October at Stanley’s Chapel United Methodist Church with 13 members present.

President Chris Cheatham called the meeting to order and led the reading of the purpose. Becky Barnes offered a prayer, following the voicing of requests and concerns by members.

Emily Haynes read the minutes and Leanne Parnell gave the treasurer’s report.

Sandra McTurner presented the names for birthday recognition, as recorded on the prayer calendar.

Mrs. Cheatham and Jerry Darnell represented the unit at Annual Day in Tiptonville recently, it was noted. They accepted many awards and certificates of recognition on behalf of the unit.

Mrs. Cheatham read a list of suggestions for helping the unit accomplish an even higher ranking in the district and she presented a thank you note from Community Developmental Services for contributions from the unit during a difficult period.

Janice Parham accepted responsibility for making reservations for the unit to celebrate during the holiday season at Brandy’s in Martin Dec. 10.

The unit will send a contribution to the Telethon of Stars through Clorissa Wyatt.

Mrs. Parnell was in charge of the program. The pledge program was entitled “Giving Makes Mission Possible.”

Scripture readings were offered from Psalm 100, read by Shannon Roberts; I Corinthians 13, read by Roberta Peacock; and Titus 3:13-14, read by Mrs. Cheatham.

Participants on the program included Emily Haynes, Rosemary Coleman, Becky Barnes and Serena Blanton.

Linda Winstead, accompanied by Mrs. Coleman, led the unit in singing “Here I Am, Lord.”

The members read a pledge prayer in unison and the benediction was given by Mrs. Cheatham.

The next meeting will be Nov. 12 at the church.
