Ruth Wright Freeman, 94, of Martin, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2008, at the Weakley County Rehab and Nursing Center in Dresden. Services were held 1 p.m. Friday at Freeman’s Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Mike Blake, the Rev. Susan Varner and the Rev. Terry English officiating. Burial was in Wood Cemetery, Martin. Murphy Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Ronnie Blackard, David Blackard, Marty Freeman, Steve Blake, Dan Blake and Kevin Wood served as pallbearers. Mrs. Freeman was born July 26, 1914, in Nashville, daughter of the late William T. and Marcella McClurkan Wright. She was the widow of J. V. Freeman, formerly worked in the Martin Elementary School cafeteria and for Meals on Wheels and was a member of Freeman’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, Jimmy (Lois) Freeman and Charles (Linda) Freeman, both of Martin; two daughters, Nancy (Ron) Blackard of Collierville and Peggy Eakes of Germantown; one brother, Blake Wright of Bruceton; one sister, Georgia Woody of Tampa, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Cindy Keenon, Marty Freeman, Ronnie Blackard, David Blackard, Patti Parchman, Janet Wood, Beth Lawson and Chris Freeman; and 13 great-grandchildren, Lynsey Kennon, Kristen Kennon, Tatum Freeman, Landon Freeman, Avery Freeman, Candice Blackard, Andrew Blackard, Elaena Blackard, Taylor Parchman, Kevin Wood Jr., Conner Wood, Jackson Wood and Savannah Lawson.
