Fred T. Buchanan, 92, of Martin, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at Martin Health Care. Services were held 11 a.m. today at Murphy Funeral Home, with Bro. Ryan Potts and Bro. Cecil May officiating. Burial was in East Side Cemetery. Andrew Warren, Mike Warren, Charles Bell, Billy Joe Buchanan, Harvey Ray White, Norman Freeman and Jeff Harrison served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were current and former deacons of Mount Pelia Baptist Church current and former Royal Ambassadors of Mount Pelia Baptist Church. Buchan was born May 29, 1916, in Hickman County, son of the late Andrew Valentine and Mary Etta Hedge Buchanan. He was a World War II U. S. Army veteran, a retired farmer, formerly worked at Leir Sigler and Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and was a member of Mount Pelia Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Edna Boyd Buchanan of Martin; two daughters, Sherry Wagster of Martin and Janice Hester of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Jenny Pearl Booker of Martin; two grandchildren, Nick Wagster of Martin and Jessica Wagster of Chattanooga; and two great-grandchildren, Christian Wagster and Brayden Wagster, both of Martin. He as also preceded in death by four brothers, Lee Buchanan, Jack Buchanan, Oliver Buchanan and William L. “Sonny” Buchanan; and five sisters, Ann White, Ethel Lyle, Louise Bell, Mildred Cole and Evie Mae Warren.
