Ms. Thomas, Atkins to wed

The engagement and forthcoming marriage of Gina Cochran Thomas and Michael Atkins, both of Union City, are being announced today. The bride-elect is the daughter of Johnnie Cochran and Carolyn Spicer, both of Samburg. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James D. Hopper of Tiptonville and the late Mr. and Mrs. John F. “Son” Cochran of Samburg. She is a 1997 graduate of Obion County Central High School. She is employed as an order processor for Dixie Gun Works Inc. in Union City. The groom-elect is the son of James and Kelly Atkins of Troy. His grandparents are Willis and Joyce Ragan of Union City and the late James and Lasphenia Atkins of Troy. He is a 1998 graduate of OCCHS and is employed with the Union City Electric System as a lineman. The couple will wed at 2 p.m. Nov. 22 at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church in Union City. A reception will be held immediately following the ceremony in the banquet area of the church. Invitations will be sent. Published in The Messenger 10.27.08
