APICS to meet in Jackson

The West Tennessee Golden Circle Chapter of APICS — Advancing Productivity, Innovation and Competitive Success: the Association for Operations Management — will hold a professional development meeting Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in Ayers Auditorium in the McWherter Building at Jackson State Community College in Jackson.
The subject will be Radio Frequency Identification, including a case study from a practitioner’s viewpoint.
Matt Hill, materials manager for Volvo Penta Marine Products, LLC, in Lexington, will conduct the evening’s program. Volvo Penta is a world leader in leisure boat engines and complete drive systems.
RFID is the buzz hitting so many companies these days today to synchronize their product information, an APICS spokesman said. RFID is a worldwide standard of data recording and tracking and it has a wide variety of uses by all types businesses from hospitals to supply houses. Hill will discuss the benefits it provides Volvo Penta.
Finger foods and drinks will be provided.

The member cost is $15 and the student member cost is $5.
