CERTIFIED — Circuit judge Bill Acree Jr. and other members of the 27th Judicial District Drug Court team had good reason to beam smiles during a recent visit to Nashville. The team attended an annual drug court conference and was recognized for having attained state certification requirements that call for minimum standards of operation for drug court programs in Tennessee. The conference is sponsored annually by the Office of Criminal Justice Programs and the Tennessee Association of Drug Court Professionals. Local drug court team members on hand to display the certificate were (from left) Dr. Johnnie Welch, drug court counselor; Acree; Dr. Deborah Gibson, drug court coordinator; Sue Moore, drug court case manager; and Veronica Thornton, drug court coordinator. The 27th Judicial District Drug Court, which serves Obion and Weakley counties, was established Dec. 5, 2002. Acree and Weakley County General Sessions judge Tommy Moore preside over the program.
