Playhouse stars Britt Hancock and Weslie Webster headline the return of the Southeastern Premiere production of Irving Berlin’s WHITE CHRISTMAS, at the Cumberland County Playhouse October 31st through December 21st on the VF Factory Outlet Mainstage. WHITE CHRISTMAS is sponsored by M. Stewart Galloway, MD, with Cumberland Eye Care offices at Fairfield Glade. Based on the beloved, timeless film, this heartwarming new musical adaptation features seventeen Irving Berlin songs. With Hancock returning from the national tour of The Producers to play singer Bob Wallace, and New York singer/dancer Craig Blake as his song and dance act partner Phil Davis, they portray a successfully show business team just after World War II. They encounter a “sister act” of Betty and Judy Haynes, played by Weslie Webster and CCP newcomer Sara Dobrinich, at a Vermont ski lodge, which just happens to be owned by Bob and Phil’s former army commander, played by Pleasant Hill’s Dick Dissler. The dazzling score features well known standards including Blue Skies, I Love A Piano, How Deep Is the Ocean and of course, White Christmas. Ohio singer/dancer/actress Sharmaine Harris, now featured in the black church musical CROWNS in the CCP Adventure Theater through November 22, co-stars as crotchety, no-nonsense lodge housekeeper Martha Watson, a former Broadway hoofer who ultimately steals the show which Bob, Phil and their army buddies cook up to help their general’s ski lodge, which is suffering from “no snow!” A company of thirty fills the stage, including three young Cumberlands girls sharing the singing/dancing role of General Waverly’s granddaughter Susan, Grace Harrison, Emily Swafford, and Lexi Moore. Also showing at the Playhouse: CROWNS, sponsored by Wyndham Resorts at Fairfield Glade; and A SANDERS FAMILY CHRISTMAS, sponsored by Cumberland County Bank.
