KINGSPORT (AP) — Gary Myers is retiring as director of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency where he had worked since 1974.

Myers, 73, had been director since 1977.

According to The Knoxville News Sentinel, he announced his retirement Wednesday at the end of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission meeting.

Myers came to TWRA in 1974 as assistant director of field operations after working 11 years for the Colorado Game and Fish Department. He was named interim director in August 1977 and director in February 1978.
