Fine Arts Club meets in Dixie Courtyard

The Fine Arts Club of Martin held its Oct. 1 meeting in The Dixie Courtyard downtown Martin. Hostesses were Mrs. Tim Bynum, Mrs. John Chester and Mrs. Scott McDonald. The 21 members in attendance enjoyed their pumpkin cheesecake and specialty coffee in the quaint, fall setting of the courtyard. Mrs. Fred Vowell, vice president, brought the meeting to order by leading the members in the collect. Mrs. Phil Wade called the role, and minutes were read and approved. Mrs. John Wall gave the treasury report. Mrs. Tim Bynum brought new business before the club for discussion. At the conclusion of the business meeting, Mrs. Bob Peeler introduced guest speaker Vicki White, owner of Vicki’s Designer Touch. Vicki provided the club with great ideas for fall decorating, including making arrangements, tablescapes and outdoor container plantings. She was able to show how to use flowers and fruit to create a beautiful fall look that anyone can achieve. The club enjoyed the presentation and the time to browse her store adjacent to the courtyard. Members in attendance not already mentioned were Mrs. Jim Cannon, Mrs. Bob Cheeseman, Mrs. Harold Clifton, Mrs. Joe Exum, Mrs. Tom Farmer, Mrs. Tom Gallien, Mrs. Michael Hinds, Mrs. Morris Liming, Mrs. Bob Peeler, Mrs. E.B. Pritchett Jr., Mrs. George Pritchett, Mrs. James Pritchett, Mrs. Lee Pritchett, Mrs. James Shore and Mrs. Sanford Truit. The next meeting is scheduled for Nov. 5. wcp 10-21-08
