Life’s Road Yesterday I traveled down a dusty road, So soft, so cool between my toes. Alas, the gravel lay before me; My callused feet across it bore me. The hardball-asphalt hot and fast; My feet they quickly sought the grass. A moment’s respite in the shade, On top of the world I all surveyed. But for a moment I could stay, For I was in the mid-day heat of sway The hill’s down-slope before me lay, I must descent by end of day. Down life’s hard road we all must trod Traversing gravel, heat and sod, Where we must go at end of day: Passing many on our way. Russell Cherry
