KNOXVILLE (AP) — Tennessee men’s basketball coach Bruce Pearl said his team started off with the press at its first official practice of the season Friday.
The Knoxville News-Sentinel reported on its Web site that Pearl said team created a lot of turnovers, helping with the intensity of the practice.
Junior college transfer Bobby Maze, who’s in the driver’s seat for the starting point guard position with Daniel West out with academic complications, said he noticed a difference in practice.
Maze said the intensity level was up, and called it a new beginning for the team.
Pearl said there was a major difference being able to practice for two hours in one night – as opposed to the two hours per week he was allowed through August, September and the first two weeks of October.
The coach says he has more time to teach during a regular practice.
