The ‘Spirit of Innovation’ Goodyear blimp made a local visit last week for the Union City plant’s 40th Anniversary celebration. Crew Mechanic Ken Horton of Florida visited with school-age children and community members at Everett-Stewart Regional Airport on Thursday answering questions and telling stories about the day-to-day operations as crew member of the Goodyear blimp. Designated a GZ (Goodyear-Zeppelin) 20A, the Spirit of Innovation, at 192 feet long, 59.5 feet tall and 50 feet wide. It is part of the ‘fleet’ of Goodyear blimps. Known for its larger than life signs, the left of the ‘Spirit of Innovation’ houses 3,780 light boards that carry a total of 82,656 LED’s. WCP 10.07.08
