Obion County Central High School graduate Clay Smith of Troy has been selected to perform in the Lipscomb University Jazz Band in the 2008-09 season.
The 14-member jazz band performs two concerts per semester in combination with the Lipscomb University Jazz Vocal Ensemble. The music performed represents a variety of styles from traditional big band swing, hard bop, gospel, Latin, West Coast and ballads, as performed by many of the famous jazz artists throughout history.
The band is among seven ensembles available to students at Lipscomb, located in Nashville. Others include the Chamber Ensemble, A Cappella Singers, Concert Band and New Music Ensemble.
Lipscomb’s music department is an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
